(COOKSHOP)

Hot on the heels of Lost Idol’s acclaimed debut album (press quotes below) we are proud to present stand out cut “When I Were Young” backed with exclusive B-side “Un-Slept” on a strictly limited edition collectors 7” single.

“When I Were Young” is a psychedelic pop nugget that laments on the unavoidable coming of age, albeit in a disconcertingly upbeat manner. With it’s infectious bassline and ever evolving chorus this is certainly a record to herald the start of another summer of love if ever we heard one. On the B-side, “Un-Slept” deals with the subject of insomnia and writer’s block in an equally bright and breezy manner, this time with a more lo-fi but no-less colourful feel.

Both songs demonstrate Lost Idol’s talent for writing music that has a nostalgic feel whilst still utilizing a contemporary production style which bears just as much influence from artists such as Brian Wilson and Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd as it does contemporary musicians such as Beck and The Beta Band..

think Jim Noir meets The Small Faces with Jamie Lidell at the controls.
IDJ (Shepdog)

…no a million miles from vintage Beta Band, with a brushed up production to match. Roll on the summer!
