The Nashville Session 2

A 8 track soul jazz album (44m 50s) — released November 30th 2018 on One Note Records

As the title neatly implies, this album is a sequel to our 2016 release The Nashville Session. Since we were touring in the neighbourhood and had a day off, it made sense to dash back into the same studio to lay down some more live cuts. The main difference this time is that, instead of organ, our man Joe Tatton plays various pianos and a vintage analogue synth.

The recording documents the way the band sounded in mid-2018, at which point The New Mastersounds had been together for nearly twenty years and released twelve previous studio albums. The compositions presented here are all NMS originals, with one exception: our arrangement of John Cameron's KPM cult classic Afro Metropolis.

Our live set was recorded and mixed directly onto ΒΌ" stereo tape reels on a hot June evening in front of an invited studio audience, members of whom took turns either to watch in the live room or listen from the control room. Of fifteen pieces performed we chose eight to be cut onto this vinyl LP. There are no edits and no overdubs: just bass, drums, guitar and keyboards.
