Who is the man behind the man? Who schooled some of your favourite Emcees? Spending years in the field honing a razor sharp flow waiting for his moment to step from the shadows. It's here.. In today's disposable rent a rap scene, real humility is a scarce commodity. It's even more surprising when found in an Emcee who has contributed to classics with the calibre of Lootpack's Soundpieces. It's Gift's main asset, a humble wordsmith more concerned with raising the bar than bragging about his many past achievements. After cutting an impressive catalogue of underground classics with stalwarts such as Madlib, Kankick and Declaime, God's Gift now arrives here at Ramp laboratories with a stack of quality brews and a vintage that's second to none. Anyway, flattery aside, and more in keeping with the man's monkish demeanor, we'll let the man speak for his damn self... 'Hello my name is Garrick Williams, a.k.a. God's Gift. I started writing poetry in the 3rd grade, my cousins and friends got me into freestyling by the time I was in the 5th grade, I started writing rhymes in the 9th grade, and making underground songs in the 10th grade with Kankick, Wildchild and Madlib, Deja Voo and Blame One (Mystery's Extinction). Being born in 1972 in southern California made me part of the Hip Hop generation, who were influenced by the early pioneers (like the Cold Crush Brothers and Grandmaster Flash), and at the same time committed to pushing the lyrical envelope. I strongly believe in writing, expressing yourself honestly and being as creative as possible. As I grow as a person, I suspect that I will grow as an artist also.' Previous Projects / appearances: Pure Order the Master-Race of MC's, Mystery's Extinction, Outer Existence, Loot Pack's 'the Lost Tapes', and 'Soundpieces: Da Antidote?, Kankick's 'From Artz Unknown', and a few underground mix tapes somewhere out there..'
