New Directions in Funk: Peep This / Slow Motion

A 2 track funk single (9m 13s) — released December 18th 2015 on Soul Clap Records

You know Soul Clap likes it funky, so of course we've been digging all the new funk music coming out recently. This interest motivated us in compiling "Tempo Dreams Volume 3" for Bastard Jazz Records. In doing so we were able to gather so many amazing songs that they didn't all fit on the compilation. Now using this inspiration as an invitation to start a new series on Soul Clap Records we're excited to introduce NEW DIRECTIONS IN FUNK.

NEW DIRECTIONS IN FUNK is a colored 7" vinyl only series that features future funk from Soul Clap and our freaky friends from around the world. Inspired by labels we love like Cherries, Voltaire, PPU, Hot Shot & Omega Supreme, NEW DIRECTIONS IN FUNK pushes the boundaries of what funk music can be, while always paying homage to the roots.

First in the series is a double A sider (aka music so hot we can't choose!). On the A side is "Peep This", a track we did with George Clinton/Funkadelic which features Crew Love members Nick Monaco and Greg Paulus along with G Koop! And do you remember "So Fine", the Paradise Garage classic by Howard Johnson? Well he's featured on the B side's "Slow Motion", a collaboration with Bay Area innovator Brian Ellis' Reflection project!
