Bento / Bento (Scott Fraser's Decompression Dub)
A 2 track house single (18m 20s) — released June 18th 2012 on Awkward Movements
Awkward Movements came together under Keith P in 2009, and has since extended in to an ever-growing family of players and producers making waves across the electronic underground, now including one of our London's top talents in the form of Don't Be Afraid boss Semtek.
'Bento' is a track which collects some techno references and influences but distills them in Semtek's own particular house music style. It is a track destined to tear up the dancefloor, armed with layers of noises firing off of each other. Semtek's love of precise, focussed sound manipulation and understated structuring style all feature in abundance.
Scott Fraser takes the tempo down on his Decompression Dub. 'Bento', as a result becomes a slowly morphing lysergic New York house joint which might have found a home in the sets of deejays like Tenaglia and Junior Sanchez in the heyday. Soaked in delay and reverb, a 12 minute epic journey with an acid twinge - a reinvention of the original and a perfect compliment at the same time.
Limited hand stamped physical, no repress.
Semtek is UK based producer Benjamin Roth, creator of precise, experimental house and techno music from his studio in Hackney Wick, London. He started the Don't Be Afraid label in 2009 to release his own productions, but then expanded it to encompass the work of other artists like Mr. Beatnick and Photonx, and at the same time expanding his own release schedule by connecting to other labels such as World Unknown and Awkward Movements.
Scott Fraser produced Chicago house and Detroit techno influenced box jams throughout the 1990's. Uk, International DJ and live appearances followed including gigs in Detroit and Berlin. He contributed early work in the UK on Emissions audio output records , and in the US on Black Nation records and Wave music. After a hiatus he has returned to writing music, with releases already in the bag this year on World Unknown and Astro:lab.

dig. DUG. Bento's got one hell of a groove. Real dance music. The dub sounds like drugs and is going to take me a while to digest. - Ed Congreave The Foals
YES. So nice to hear something stick out in the sea of mundane music. Both tracks are wicked. Bento is heavy, its like a 303 trying to escape from a church. - Midland
