Mind Your Own Sequence
A 2 track leftfield/idm single (7m 49s) — released July 9th 2012 on Disco_r.dance
The ears behind the disco_r.dance love a good collaboration and so they are very excited by this release, the first vinyl offering from the label. Wrangler are a collaborative project between Ben Edwards aka Benge and Phil Winter.
Ben has been releasing music under the name Benge since the early 90s including the well-received Twenty Systems release from 2008. More recently Ben has been recording and playing with John Foxx and the Maths.
Phil has been involved in numerous music projects, but for several years now has been providing his keyboard and programming skills for folk-influenced band Tunng (currently recording their 5th studio album).
Previously, Wrangler have shared a 7" release on Static Caravan with Scanner (2008's Two Systems)
Mind Your Own Business (feat. The Lone Taxidermist & Alan Riggs) started out as a remix of Delta 5's post-punk classic, but soon took on a life of its own. Vocals are provided by London-based "howl-inducing music making machine" The Lone Taxidermist , aka Natalie Sharp. Delta 5's Alan Riggs does guitar, adding to this completely reworked version that makes full use of Ben's studio full of classic analogue synthesizers.
Sequence On (feat. Stephen Mallinder) - Recently Wrangler have been working with Stephen Mallinder (of renowned electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire). This partnership has already produced a remix that has appeared on the recently released John Foxx & the Maths album "The Shape of Things", and this single is the first track they have recorded together. Wrangler's scuffed-up and abrasive electronics provide the perfect foundation for the vocals, which will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with Cabaret Voltaire's past work.
'Some really cool people have come together to produce this fantastic cover of Delta 5's 'Mind Your Own Business'. - John Doran The Quietus
