Keep Rocking (feat. Mr Edge)

A 1 track funky house single (5m 18s) — released August 15th 2025 on I9M Recordings

Keep Rocking - Ability II drops another classic release, featuring the legend that is Mr Edge on saxophone. These two artists first met back in the early 90's in Leeds, where the story goes that Ability II moved into a basement apartment where he had a small studio. Unknown to him, Mr Edge lived up above a few stories, and apparently all he could hear, or rather feel, was the heavy bass frequency coming up thru the building from the basement! Hence also came the nickname "Booma" which is also associated with Ability II, you really couldn't make this up!

Having met up again over 30 years later, they jumped into a London studio (Studio 5) where Mr Edge laid down some of his signature lush saxophone licks, this really is a reunion and celebration of sorts, a summer vibe and chill dance track, which of course features that classic Ability bass sound. Having trained under the great Brit saxist Johnny Marshall, Mr Edge has been prominent on both the Leeds and Londonscenes, playing with Jazz and Funk bands like Capri and Hot Orange, as well as featuring on releases for bands as diverse as New Model Army and Morcheeba. After an extended hiatus from the music industry, he brings his own unique style and magic touch back to the table, and for that we are all the more honoured! Also featured are the vocals of Leeds artist Mel, who as worked with the likes of Nightmares on Wax and more. Special mention goes out to Steven Benoni also, much respect, a creative soul.

On a more sombre and reflective note, this track was to have also featured a guitar version from the now late Christopher Earl-Dawkins, who sadly passed away before it could be completed. Has such, this release is humbly dedicated to this amazing artist, you will always be missed and never forgotten my brother, rest in peace, a true legend.
