À Luz da Lua

A 1 track electro-funk single (3m 16s) — released October 4th 2024 on JMJ Recordings

À luz da Lua' is sensual late night anthem that mixes UK RnB-Soul with Portuguese Afro-Pop blending into a new sound that distinguishes Maya Blandy as a truly unique up-coming International artist. Producer and song-writer Jake Wherry (founding member of the pioneering hip-hop band The Herbaliser) wrote the music with it's super catchy guitar hook for another Brazilian artist back in 2019 after going on a trip with his sons to Ibiza - it was inspired by the sunset at Benirras beach.

In 2024 Maya heard the hook and fell in love with its unique feel. Jake and Maya proceeded to rebuild a whole new song around it with the added Portuguese element. The song blends sounds of Latin guitar, Brazilian percussion and Portuguese lyricism. Maya drew on her up-bringing on the small island of Madeira to write about her romantic adventures over the Summers by the ocean. The lyrics depict the universal feeling of romantic excitement and falling in love for the first time under the stars of a summery sky.
