polytypic one is the debut album release from polytype records.

compiled, curated, programmed & sequenced by label founder edv3ctor, it represents the outlooks & attitudes from a diverse range of artists, creating a new listening context for this particular grouping of sub-genres within the electronic music [and sound] scope. we whole heartedly encourage you to listen deeply.

beginning with strains of modern classical and ambient from Anna Peaker, the opening part of this hour long sequence, continues w/ Ben England's exploratory cinematic soundscape as District Advisory Board. both these missives are on the mind side & encourage the listener to remain focused on what's to come.

Cedar's interest in the hybrid strains emerging from drum & bass & minimal techno fuses a sparseness of touch w/ enveloping low end tones, drawing the mind forward, anticipating movement of the body. Thirdspace's debut track, opens up with splintered polyrythmatics, sampled encouragement for self freedom & warm, soul infused Detriotian deep house/jazz licks. billy2chips 'Another Day' keeps the uplift & forward motion going w/ percussive, needlepoint beat placement & spectral soundscape-play.

the layered tones & chimes of Torom's 'Boomerang' glides along in a dreamlike trance, an undulating interplay of effervescence with spools of (un)coiling drum work. Geiom's 'Soul Bauble' shifts the sequence towards, greyer, murkier urban zones of dramatic sweeps & ghostly tones in a darker (non)space of weightlessness w/ flickering, hopeful embers of light.

the interjection of DAB's 'ref: de/31a' low end tremors, reminds us of the prominent bass weight of his acute & clinical UK junglist approach. Charlie Evatt's 'Dazzle A' durational, dub wise informed, hardware jam, captures the nostalgic, distant echo, throb & hissing emissions of a peak 90's warehouse rave. segueing into Geiom's 'Coop Coupe', with its grand sweeping strings, stepping bass tones & micro textured tempos holds a kind of stasis between ascending & descending dynamics. Jake Mehew's 'Dystopia', modulates his synthesis systems in an emotional summation of times lived in uncertainty, enveloping & cascading - seeking a wayforward, up & out.

closing out the sequence, a sense of foreboding is cast aside toward the welcoming, uplifting relief of billy2chips 'herbie' like jazzisms & infectious polymorphous riddim wig outs. coming down & closing out proceedings, Thirdspace's yearning but warm padded, indigo mode opens out and ends this first polytypic sequence in an epic stately manner.
