Sonic Refrabulator Stochos Forester

Suren Seneviratne is a Sri Lankan born London based multimedia artist who is no stranger to the world of electronic music. His prolific output since 2011 has garnered well deserved praise from the likes of Pitchfork, FACT and Boiler Room as well as regular support from key radio taste-makers. His keen interest in the audio-visual realm has been demonstrated by his collaborations with some of the finest visual artists working today including Werkflow, Daniel Swan and Yoshi Sodeoka. Many of these works have gone on to be shown at film festivals such as SXSW and FutureShorts.

Seneviratne's first forays into sound manipulation can be traced to Goldsmiths's University London where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Art. This period led to a fascination of the hidden acoustical, mechanical and electrical phenomena in modern technologies which continue to inform his practice to this day, be it collaboratively or alone. In between personal projects, his meticulous ear for detail has crossed over into the sound design domain creating bespoke content for the likes of Google Daydream, Novation and Gucci among others.

Now existing on the periphery of Sound Art and Experimental Music, Seneviratne sculpts unique soundscapes using modified equipment and home-made DIY electronics which, at its heart, is concerned with process and extended technique. It comes as no surprise that credible institutions like The Guildhall School of Music and East London Arts and Music have hosted presentations on his distinctive methodology and craft.
