Live

A 2 track ambient dub album (37m 38s) — released April 18th 2025 on Dialog Sound

Across two sides of extended sonic exploration and meditation, experimental dub techno duo Dialog present their first officially released live recording. From an initial run of curious studio link-ups Samuel van Dijk (VC-118A) and Rasmus Hedlund have grown their project into a many-sided expression of what dubwise electronic music can mean in the modern era.

Alongside their debut album on Astral Industries and an on-going 12" series with Jamaican vocalists Benji and Josei, Dialog have been performing live to continue shaping out their ideas, whether indulging in a roots-spirited strain of soundsystem immersion or heading into more abstract, refracted soundscapes.

On this live recording, we're transported to the intimate, acclaimed festival Pe:rsona, which took place in France in 2024. As an environment for discerning listeners, the scene was set for Dialog to take their sound as deep as possible. The lines blur between mechanical rhythmic impulses and organic tones and textures—malleable metallic and elemental forms passing through chasms of processing and shrouded in womb-like melancholic hum. There's a sense of dub techno's eternal atmosphere flickering at the heart of the sound, but Dialog take this pervasive mood into forward-thinking territory with a distinctly tactile approach to sound design.

This first document of Dialog live offers just one compelling iteration of what they can do, but it equally opens up thrilling possibilities for where they might head in the near future. Purely improvised in conversation with each other and their unique setting, it's a mind-melting listen for casual chillers and committed voyagers alike.
