Bell Jar is a standalone EP that brings a new dimension to Angus MacRae's album Vivarium. Originally a bonus track exclusive to the album's vinyl release, Bell Jar takes familiar sounds and textures from Vivarium and reshapes them into something altogether new. With acclaimed New York clarinetist Michael Winograd improvising over MacRae's reworked material, the EP offers a cinematic, genre-blurring experience where live clarinet and electronic soundscapes come together in a way that feels both spontaneous and deeply atmospheric.
Winograd's clarinet lines move through the piece with a warmth and intimacy that breathe new life into the layered synths and processed sounds beneath. Blending classical and electronic elements, Bell Jar invites listeners to sink into its intricate soundscapes and discover something unexpected with each listen.
