Mtirala

A 8 track ambient album (32m 54s) — released September 16th 2021 on CES Records

"Mtirala" is debut album from young and rising Georgian electronic music composer and a DJ Ani Zakareishvili. Born in 1996, in Tbilisi, into a musical family, Ani is particularly interested in acousmatic and sample-based music.

The album represents a virtual trip in mountain Mtirala, located in a National Park in Adjara, the western part of Georgia, spread on a seacoast. The subtropical nature of the park protects some of the rarest fruits, plants, animals, and bird breeds. Mtirala is the

most humid point of the country. This is why it is called Mtirala – which translates as "The Weeper" in Georgian.

The music was composed for the Soundspring festival, which was initially planned to occur at Mtirala national park. Compositions are based on Georgian folk music from different regions: Tianeti, Adjara, and Lazeti. The samples are taken from recordings of the following Georgian folk ensembles: "Mzetamze," "Georgika," and "Anchiskhati."
