Live at Mu
A 4 track free improvisation album (45m 44s) — released February 14th 2025 on Maps For Getting Lost
As the sun set on the 11th July 2023, Yusuf Ahmed and Harry Christelis entered a dimly lit room in Dalston, London for a explorative musical dive into the undetermined deep.
The album they present here, 'Live at Mu', contains a selection of four pieces from a fully improvised musical dialogue between long time musical collaborators. Together they weave through immersive sonic landscapes varying in textures and colours. Through intent listening and an acute focus on one another, the pair interact seamlessly to shape the expansive forms of these tracks.
Sounds from Harry's guitar are a mixture of reverb drenched pads and drones alongside edgy and dynamic overdriven lines, which are all sublimely supported by Yusuf's drums and his creative mixture of heavy grooves, rubato dances across the kit, and delicate textural intricacies.
The music created brings to mind a wide range of musical traditions, including jazz, psychedelic rock, free improv, folk, and ambient musics. And yet, it is brought together in such a way that feels very distinct to these two players and the summer evening it was captured on.credits
