Bicho Preguiça (The Sloth)
Babo Moreno is the brainchild of Fabio De Oliveria, a respected drummer and percussionist, who having worked with the likes of Sault, Jacob Collier, Terry Callier, Alfa Mist, Jalen Ngonda and Airto Moreira, is now stepping forward with his own sound. Fabio is the proud bearer of a legacy of Brazilian music in London, particularly influenced by the artist's father, renowned percussionist Bosco De Oliveira (Terry Callier, Sade, Working Week, Dom Um Romão & Founder of the London School Of Samba).
WithBicho Preguiça (The Sloth), Babo Moreno crafts a lush, hypnotic ode to the Amazon - its mystery, beauty, and the quiet power of its most unhurried creature. Blending earthy Brazilian rhythms with modern London-born edge, the single speaks to the heart of the second-generation Brazilian diaspora: those raised far from the jungle's embrace but forever drawn to its magic. Drawing on the Xote rhythm from North East Brazil,Paul Simon's Rhythm of the Saints, and the dub-jazz ofFat Freddy's Drop, this is a love letter to the wildlife, the whispers of the forest, and the enchantment that lingers in the spaces between cultures. For anyone who's ever felt the call of a homeland they've only known in stories—this one's for you.
