MidnightRoba is the solo project of vocalist, songwriter and producer Roba El-Essawy. The voice of London-based electronic trio Attica Blues (Mo Wax 1997, Sony 2000), Roba is due to release her second solo album later this year on her independent label Sonder Records. Whilst the first album was very much rooted in jazz and was a personal expression, this is an electronic offering and marks this time, globally, for us all.

Axis, feauturing Saul Williams, is the first release from MidnightRoba's second album. Axis is a tribute to the grieving, to those such as Khaled Nabhan, whose beloved 3-year old granddaughter Reem was killed in the bombing of her home in Gaza. Axis describes the lifting of the veil, that we, as observers, have witnessed the tilt of the axis of evil - that the true evil lies with the corrupt and colonial sentiment of politicians of the global north.
