Bitter Boy is the story of the realisation of the worst nightmare of parents of Black children. Conceived after the shooting of Philando Castile, Bitter Boy is the cry of a parent trying to protect their child against police bigotry, brutality and injustice. The song becomes a lament. Joined by the mastery of Jason Moran on piano and exquisite bass of Ben Williams, with drums by Roba and Tony Nwachukwu (fellow Attica Blues bandmate), this, the edited version, sits side by side with the 'My Unique Boy' soundscaping remix by Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau.
