Tales of Tides
A 8 track avant garde jazz album (44m 35s) — released February 28th 2025 on Tenorio Cotobade
Under his Blendreed nom de plume, French saxophonist Musina Ebobissé follows the success of 2024's "ARMAUN" EP with a revived and ramped-up reissue of his second album "Tales Of Tides", originally self-released digitally in late 2022. The advance single 'Sail' has been played on BBC Radio 6 New Music Fix and Riley & Coe, and on BBC Radio 3 'Round Midnight.
Imagine yourself floating on a vast expanse of water with no sight of land. The undulation of gentle currents causes your body to rise and fall in sedate pulses. You're lulled into a hypnagogic state, where minutes become hours, days become weeks. Offering a voyage of psychic escape, "Tales Of Tides" restores balance to souls in peril.
A convergence of acoustic and electronic elements, Blendreed explores the intersection of jazz, ambient, post-rock and experimental music. Languid saxophone phrases echo and decay towards distant horizons. In combination, they form eddies and streams in an ocean of sound. With no barriers to crash against, we're held in a state of sublime suspension. If you were seduced by André 3000's "New Blue Sun" album, Blendreed's music takes you further into expansive realms of contemplation. A space where Macintosh Plus and La Monte Young meet on equal terms.
Satisfying in dimensions both cerebral and emotional, "Tales Of Tides" transforms the call and response of our ancestors into eternally-cresting waves of stirring swells and deep repose. As we navigate a world in turmoil, this album sets us adrift on a sea of open-ended reflection.
