I stole the title for this collection of tracks from a book I've had on my shelf for a really long time. I picked it up in a charity shop and only kept it because I like the title and the cheesy 90's graphic design that suggests you will experience a smooth and total reawakening if you read this book. Unfortunately that didn't happen, but I do appreciate the main idea in the book - that human beings are perpetually and unavoidably living in various states of trance, whether pleasurable, destructive, simple or complex. The trance of eating an apple, of a journey, of addiction or love. Time is always distorted somehow. A narrowing of attention becomes a necessary means of survival. A looping and overlapping series of identifications and attachments.
