Boris Vitazek is a new media artist whose work moves between the slopes of uncanny valley; on his debut Amalgam he too focuses on the waning threshold between artificial and organic and blends it even further. The album is also true to its title stylistically, stemming from different approaches to electronic music production explored over the past two years.
These nine tracks are tied together by their respective dramaturgy // every song feels significant in all its parts and conclusive on its own terms. Vitazek also works as a theatre sound designer but this music isn't an accompaniment. These are sonic representations of altered states of awareness, the sudden flares that are as surprising as they're important and inexplicable.
