Rota Fortunae I

A 4 track medieval ep (19m 5s) — released May 8th 2020 on Gare du Nord Records

Kate Arnold is a Birmingham-born writer and musician whose work combines classical and medieval/acoustic influences, gothic-folk drama and modern looping/electronic techniques. Her weapons of choice are hammered dulcimer, violin, drum and vocals.

Now working as a solo artist, Kate previously fronted 'punk baroque' band Fear of the Forest. In 2019 she supported Lindy-Fay Hella (Wardruna) live and contributed to albums by The Monochrome Set and Paul Morricone. She has also worked with Jim Bob, Lisa Knapp, Rose McDowall, Daemonia Nymphe, Doudou Cissoko, Steve Albini and Tony Visconti. She is based in London, UK.

"ROTA FORTUNAE I" is the first of a two-part recording project that draws on Kate's interest in medieval and Renaissance music and should appeal to fans of Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, dark gothic pop and 'alternative classical' music. Rota Fortunae II is in progress and is planned for release later in 2020.

This is magical, magnificent, meticulous music, feeding the head while filling the heart. - Specs EP Review
