The second of three EPs from Birmingham power poppers Cult Figures ahead of their album arriving Autumn 2020.

Recorded at Toerag in London's East End and leafy Leamington Spa's Woodbine Street Studio, the songs are an eclectic mix of explosive powerpop, atmospheric nostalgia and DIY punk. The music has been compared to The Fall and The Nightingales, Cowboys International, Rich Kids and The Move.

"When Jon delivered Lights Out I was in a bad place, a botched appointment had left me hanging waiting for a second MRI scan to confirm (or not) if I had a brain tumour.

This stripped down song resonated so much with my dark thoughts and anxieties, that I didn't want to change a thing.

POST SCRIPT: The scan revealed that I did NOT have a brain tumour!"

Donut Life

"I had to find a job quickly, the trouble was that my CV and tax details were so sketchy for the previous 15 years it looked like I had done a long prison stretch for some heinous crime!

'Donut Life' was inspired by my drunken rant about my new job as an in-store baker for a supermarket chain.

'Donut Life' describes the bleakness and despair of pre-dawn shifts, and the mind-numbing monotony of a menial, minimum wage life.

A donut life!"

"Inspired by my own pre-dawn journey on the night bus, through the dark London streets, heading for the donut factory.

I imagine the fate of a stressed out overworked office worker taking their last journey to the grindstone job."
