E.P. Tracks 2012-2013

A 11 track power pop album (31m 14s) — released September 30th 2022 on Gare du Nord Records

What happens when a tribute band decides to write original songs inspired by their characters? This:

The White Paper, formed in 2010 in Brescia near Milan, were operating as one of Italy's premier Beatles tribute acts until leader Claudio Cambedda (Paul) had the idea that they should write and record some original songs to sell on CD at their shows.

The result was two EPs (collected here) followed by two albums in 2014 and 2016 before the band broke up and Cambedda continued to work solo in his own right, as well as being a professional McCartney impersonator.

The tracks here have obvious Beatles moments, that's what they were designed for - but there are also hints of The Who, Badfinger and more varied 60's and later power pop influences that come across as somehow a lot more sincere than the simplistic nods of Oasis, the clever-cleverness of The Dukes Of Stratosfear or the cynical humour of The Rutles. It's much more the sound and spirit of things like Bobb Trimble, Emitt Rhodes or The Aerovons.

In a world where it isn't possible to hear any MORE Beatles music, why shouldn't we have this instead?
