Vivaldi: Seasons Change is an electronic realisation of one of the most popular baroque classics - Antonio Vivaldi's Opus 8, Il Quattro Stagioni - created solely using a Eurorack format modular synthesizer.

Synth re-creations of classical pieces have always been a compelling fusion of the past and a kind of vintage, imagined future – in the spirit of Wendy Carlos, via Kraftwerk, modern synthwave, even the same seed that inspired The Who's Baba O'Reilly, the mathematical beauty of these Vivaldi pieces – essentially 18th century systems music - is given a meticulous makeover here by electronic artist and composer Willie Gibson, with an astonishing purity of approach in creating the pieces on essentially one instrument.

The record took a year to make – Gibson immersed himself in fascinating, un-re-creatable layers of modular synth sound creation, one part at a time, no recall. The modular synth setup used to make the music has now evolved, grown new elements and lost others. Gibson really can't go back and recover any of those sounds. They are gone. All that's left is the control data that placed them in order. Like the written score itself.
