FXU2
A 9 track soul album (42m 48s) — released August 4th 2017 on Gare du Nord Records
Gare Du Nord release the eponymous debut album from FXU2 on 4th August 2017. Inspired by a shared love of early 80s R&B, soul, funk & disco, Jack Hayter (Hefner, Dollboy), Helene Bradley (Citizen Helene, Mary Epworth band) and Robert Halcrow (Picturebox) present 8 original songs plus one cover (The SOS Band's Just Be Good To Me).
Described as Tesco Disco, FXU2 is Jam & Lewis on broken, budget gear, in a bungalow in Kent. FXNu2n ("FX New Tune") is wah heavy electro funk, written in the aftermath of the Brexit vote, Good Timez is a downbeat call for togetherness while 80s Boy serves as a smooth explanation of the whole project - a 21st century UK indie take on a golden era of US R&B.
Jam & Lewis, Chic, early Kiss FM, Solar Radio and Robbie Vincent's Sunday Night Radio 1 Soul shows inform these tracks.
